The kingdom of Benin began in the 900s when the Edo people settled in the rainforests of West Africa.

Music is of utmost importance in the country. The rhythmic sounds of drumming can be heard at most festivals and religious events. Lions cheetahs leopards elephants and hundreds of other species thrive here. Benins economic recovery will be contingent on its ability to address the vulnerabilities related to its growth model.
